One of my top priorities as your representative in Congress is to advocate for working families. Robust protections for the rights of workers are the cornerstone of a healthy middle class. Employees should be free to bargain together—to advocate for fairer wages, benefits and working conditions—without the threat of harassment or fear of losing their job.



The Employee Free Choice Act Print

The House and Senate are now considering a bill called the Employee Free Choice Act. This legislation would overhaul out-dated labor laws that are stacked against workers. A recent study found that, during organizing campaigns, 25 percent of companies have illegally fired at least one worker who supported unionization. Firings are just one of the tactics that employers use to disrupt legitimate union organizing activities. No one should have to risk their job in order to join or form a union.
