The City of Minneapolis set up a Family Assistance Center at the Northeast Armory at 1025 Broadway St. NE. (just east of Broadway and Central.)
Family members who want to check on loved ones should not go to the neighborhood, but instead should go to the Family Assistance Center or call 651-268-8537.
My thoughts and prayers are with the people and communities in Minneapolis, Fridley and St. Louis Park affected by tornadoes that struck on Sunday. I grieve for the loss of life and the broad scale destruction left in the wake of this disaster.

Today is an historic day for peace, freedom, and democracy. I want to offer my congratulations to the Egyptian people on their determination and amazing success. Today the Egyptian people delivered a stiff rebuke to Al-Qaeda-ism, violence and religious extremism. Through peaceful protest Egypt has taken a monumental step toward true democracy.
