Rep. Ellison Statement on Secretary Clinton’s Testimony to Benghazi Committee

Press Release
WASHINGTON – Rep. Keith Ellison (D-MN) released the following statement today after Secretary Hillary Clinton testified to the House Select Committee on Benghazi:
“It is amazing that the Benghazi Select Committee is still in existence, especially in light of Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy’s and Rep. Richard Hanna’s remarks and the revelation that a Republican staffer was specifically instructed to target Secretary Clinton.
“Instead of honoring the deaths of the four Americans who died in Benghazi, the committee is operating as nothing more than a campaign arm of the Republican Party. Its sole purpose has been to impact a Presidential election, instead of providing information that protects Americans working abroad.
“I also want to commend Secretary Clinton for withstanding hours of thinly veiled political attacks disguised as questions. Hopefully her testimony will mark the end of this $4.5 million boondoggle, which is the definition of government waste, fraud, and abuse.
“It’s time to shut it down.”
