Rep. Keith Ellison Statement on Shooting in Oregon
Washington DC - Rep. Keith Ellison released the following statement after the shooting in Roseburg, Oregon:
Today, once again, we grieve for the victims of a senseless mass-shooting. The weight of the tragedy at Umpqua Community College in Roseburg, Oregon falls on all our shoulders.
Aurora. Newtown. Sandy Hook. Charleston. Roseburg. Hundreds more. Even one of these tragedies would be one too many. But time after time our nation is rocked by the violent routine of these shootings. And until Congress has the strength to pass meaningful, common-sense gun reforms, these tragedies will continue to be the norm.
My thoughts and prayers are with the victims, their families, and the people of Roseburg. But thoughts and prayers are not enough. It is long past time to address gun violence in America.
